hey how's it going welcome back to the
0:04
channel and to Cara uh this is going to
0:06
be a very short but a I think a really
0:09
important video for all the um diard
0:13
Misa followers out there and again I
0:14
appreciate everyone's support and
0:16
watching the channel I often get asked
0:19
when will this thing be done uh by
0:22
people in the car audio Community or
0:24
even you know friends of mine and things
0:26
like that and I never really gave it
0:29
that deep of a consideration I'm just
0:31
working as as good as I possibly can on
0:34
everything and have the mentality when
0:36
the last scw goes in it is done that's
0:38
it and never really set specific goals
0:41
or timelines or things like that and I
0:43
recently over the last couple of days
0:45
started to think about it and I ran some
0:48
numbers and it was kind of alarming um
0:51
but there's a silver lining we'll get to
0:52
that in just a second so I want to share
0:55
with you guys some of the current stats
0:57
here regarding the build thus far I
1:00
originally purchased the car in August
1:01
of 2020 uh which is 4 and 1/2 years ago
1:05
and to be exact
1:08
6,662 days in that amount of time thus
1:11
far I've worked on the car about 1640
1:15
hours that is hands in the car touching
1:17
the car working on it I probably have at
1:20
least that again in planning research
1:23
coming up with you know the the
1:25
different things that I'm going to do
1:26
but I'm just counting the actual time in
1:28
the car um here are some other
1:31
interesting
1:32
statistics so that basically has me over
1:35
the entire course of the build thus far
1:38
averaging 98 hours uh per day since I
1:42
purchased the car which is not good uh
1:45
in the first 12 months that I had the
1:47
car I spent 216 hours working on it um
1:52
probably and that's a low number very
1:54
low probably because I thought well it's
1:57
not going to be that bad most of it is
1:58
there it's intact and I can just kind of
2:00
clean it up and I'll be good to go a
2:02
little that I know the deeper I dug into
2:04
it the more stuff I found that I wanted
2:06
to
2:07
redo so in that first 12 months I was
2:09
only averaging 056 hours per day in the
2:13
last 12 months I have done 464 hours of
2:17
work in the car which puts me at about
2:20
1.27 hours per day so an improvement
2:23
from when I first started in the last 3
2:25
months it's been 210 hours and that is
2:29
an average of 2.3 hours per day uh
2:32
obviously I've got a full-time job I've
2:34
got a house to take care of wife family
2:36
kids all that kind of stuff so even 2.3
2:39
hours per day on average and I've got
2:41
other cars too is I think a decent
2:44
amount of time thus far I also went
2:46
through and um considered the things
2:49
that I've done thus far on the car which
2:51
includes these are just the big items a
2:54
full
2:55
disassembly uh I purchased the parts car
2:58
and harvested the entire inside and
3:00
wiring the the um interior and the
3:03
wiring out of that car I redid All of
3:06
the OEM wiring in this car in Misa I did
3:09
the Dynamat which um two and a half
3:11
layers on every surface of the car I did
3:14
the woer baffles the quar inch plate
3:16
steel which my son-in-law James welded
3:18
into the fenders um so those are done
3:21
and I started working on the fender
3:22
fabrication I don't think I've shown
3:24
much of that but I've got quite a bit of
3:27
that it's pretty much for the most part
3:29
going to be a assembling it and doing
3:30
some other things but I've got that all
3:32
kind of mapped out um and obviously with
3:35
the trunk uh you've seen in the last
3:37
several videos 37 of them so far just on
3:41
the trunk uh I consider this to be about
3:45
65 to 70% done uh the trunk itself so
3:50
what is remaining on the build here's
3:52
what I've got these are my estimates and
3:54
in the past I've grossly underestimated
3:56
so I really took time to try to lay this
3:58
out and look get my to-do lists and try
4:01
to get an idea as to what I have left in
4:03
the trunk again it's been about a th
4:05
hours I just hit so far building
4:07
everything that you've seen uh I
4:09
estimate another 500 hours of work to
4:11
get the trunk complete the fenders I'm
4:14
estimating 300 hours of work there um
4:17
ideally I'm going to have those
4:19
motorized open there's there's still
4:21
quite a bit of work to do there uh on
4:23
the interior refresh which includes
4:26
running all the audio wires there's
4:27
going to be some audio related things
4:29
like the the grills for the kick panels
4:31
I'm going to redo the laser pointer that
4:34
Earl had which points to your ear that's
4:36
not a big deal that's just a little
4:37
thing uh but the interior refresh
4:39
includes all of the audio uh
4:42
refurbishing all of the leather for the
4:44
car uh new
4:45
headliner um ab and C pillar material
4:48
it's just the the thing is going to look
4:50
like a brand new car when I'm done um
4:53
that I'm estimating about 350 hours and
4:57
to do the dashboard I'm still on the
4:59
fence how I'm going to finish that off
5:01
uh but I'm going to estimate about 350
5:04
hours on there so all total time
5:06
remaining on the I'm calling it The
5:08
Sound portion of the build is another,
5:10
1500 hours so I'm basically just over
5:13
the halfway point uh good news for you
5:15
guys because there's going to be a lot
5:17
more videos coming so um additionally
5:21
beyond the audio portion I have paint
5:23
and exterior which is going to be I'm
5:27
guessing about 300 hours and then
5:28
mechanical
5:30
um the motor and trans again are very
5:32
very low mileage it's got really good
5:34
bones but there's a lot of mechanical
5:36
things I'll do which is about 200 hours
5:38
so all total I've got about 2,000 hours
5:42
before this thing I can say it is
5:44
finished okay now looking at that and
5:47
kind of estimating to say okay
5:48
forecasting this what does this look
5:50
like just on the sound portion alone
5:53
again 1500 hours if I maintain my
5:56
current pace of an hour per day
5:58
basically um that would be four years a
6:02
little over four years I'm not going to
6:04
wait four years to get this thing done
6:05
guys I I am patient but it's been four
6:08
and a half years and I want to be able
6:09
to sit in this put a CD and listen to it
6:12
that's the goal here um now what's
6:15
interesting that is at 1 hour a day if I
6:17
work two hours a day I get it done in
6:19
two years if I work two and a half hours
6:21
a day I get it done in 1.7 years and if
6:25
I can get to 3 hours a day I'm down to
6:28
1.4 years I'm going to realistically
6:31
estimate I can do to I'll commit to 2
6:33
and 1/2 hours per day um which is about
6:36
75 hours a month again on top of Life as
6:39
a as a whole which puts the sound
6:42
portion of the build completed in
6:45
December of
6:46
2026 okay um now until the car is
6:50
complete again I've got about 500 more
6:52
hours that's going to put me at July
6:55
2027 so still a long way to go but I
6:59
again My Buddy Joe always reminds me of
7:01
what I've done thus far and I think that
7:03
there's a lot in the rearview mirror but
7:05
I still have a lot to do now in order to
7:07
be able to accomplish this goal I admit
7:10
and realize there are two main things
7:13
that must take place number one stay
7:16
true to my time estimates if I say the
7:18
trunk's going to take 500 hours I've got
7:20
to be able to get it done in 500 hours I
7:23
also need to dedicate you know and
7:25
really step up and make sure I commit
7:27
myself to two and a half hours per day
7:29
I've done that I've done that pace I've
7:31
had months where I hit 100 hours but um
7:35
sometimes that's when I took a station
7:37
and spent five days straight out here
7:39
but I need to find that time I need to
7:42
every day I look at it and say okay
7:44
instead of wasting a half an hour
7:46
surfing on Facebook that's another 30
7:48
minutes in the car that's what I need to
7:50
do and really dig deep to be able to get
7:52
this thing finished um so again making
7:56
sure that I commit to averaging two and
7:58
a half hours a day I may even have some
8:01
other people help with various aspects
8:03
of this for example I know a guy who
8:05
does gold plating uh I may um hire him
8:08
to do the gold plating on everything I
8:11
was initially planning on doing
8:12
everything myself uh but uh with a kit
8:15
and all of that but we'll see how that
8:17
goes um some things that I won't do also
8:21
I will not rush or become unpre I'm not
8:25
going to cut Corners I'm not going to
8:27
sacrifice my design or skimp out and say
8:30
well I just don't have time I'm going to
8:33
press forward and get it done uh I I
8:35
want to stay true to my core beliefs and
8:40
philosophical um kind of Northstar with
8:42
this where I really want doing
8:44
everything I possibly can to the highest
8:46
possible caliber of quality so that when
8:48
I'm done I don't want to say well later
8:50
I'll redo that there is no redo because
8:53
this is all I got right I'm pouring
8:55
everything I've got into the build um
8:58
and in closing I have dreamed of having
9:01
the sound just the sound that I heard in
9:03
this car 30 years ago for the past 30
9:06
years so if it takes me another two and
9:08
a half you know whatever let's call it
9:10
two years uh to be able to get the sound
9:13
up and maybe another two and a half
9:14
years to get to the point where the
9:16
whole thing is done and it's just a
9:18
matter of washing it driving it around
9:20
the country and letting you guys hear it
9:22
I'm okay with that all right so if
9:24
anyone has any questions or anything let
9:26
me know and in closing too I truly
9:29
appreciate all of the I get so much
9:32
positive feedback from you guys that is
9:34
very inspiring and helps really keep me
9:37
moving uh to keep motivated on the build
9:40
you know it's it's difficult to be a
9:42
thousand hours into something and say
9:44
I'm not even 75% done and I still have
9:47
so much more to go but your inspiration
9:50
your comments your feedback really does
9:53
help guys and I appreciate it so all
9:55
right that's going to be it for this
9:56
video short and sweet and I'll see you
9:58
in the next one thanks again take care
